Driving south from Mammoth campground, we reach Norris Geyser Basin.
Within this area are two different sections. To the right is Porcelain Basin, which is the strangest place I have ever seen.
Steaming rivers flow over alternating patches of orange and green, then meet up with white and turquoise.
Steam rises from a grey landscape, dotted with patches of brilliant color.
Back at camp, we meet up with our new German friends Franz and Renata in order to visit Mammoth Hot Springs around sunset. They are thoughtful enough to bring a bottle of wine which we enjoy in the peacefulness and solitude of a tourist-free (well, except for us) vista.
